Bureau of Labor Statistics Region to Operate

As explained in Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation (IDFPR) website (https://www.idfpr.com/profs/adultusecan.asp), IDFPR will award “Conditional Adult Use Dispensing Organization Licenses,” which do not entitle the holder to purchase or sell cannabis.

The license holder has 180 days, after award, to find a location within its assigned Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Region to operate. After the Conditional Adult Use Dispensing Organization License holder has found a suitable location, passed an inspection by the Department, and paid its registration fee, IDFPR will award the license holder an Adult Use Dispensing Organization License, which authorizes obtain and sell cannabis legally IAW (in abidance with) Illinois Cannabis and Regulation Tax Act.

The competition is very tense as IDFPR is anticipated to only award up to 75 Conditional Adult Use Dispensing Organization Licenses. As stated in the website, only a certain number of licenses will be awarded in each of the 17 BLS Regions in Illinois based region’s percentage of the state population.

Based on the guidelines highlighted in the application text, to ensure highest score, a proposed floor plan should include the layout and estimated square footage of the predicted dispensary, and a description of the proposed security devices.

The proposed floor plan must demonstrate:

2. Name and function of each room;

3. The location and details of any signage or information required by law to be posted in the dispensary;

4. A detailed description of the features that will provide accessibility to purchasers as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act;

5. A description of the air treatment system that will be installed to reduce odors;

6. A description of the enclosed, locked facility where cannabis will be stored by the dispensing organization;

7. Doorways or pathways between rooms;

8. Means of ingress and egress;

9. Location of restricted access areas;

10. Location of cannabis storage areas while the dispensary is open for business;

11. Location of cannabis storage areas while the dispensary is closed for business;

12. Location of the sink and refrigerator, if any;

13. Location of all safes or vaults that will be used to store cannabis, cannabis products or currency;

14. Dimension of all safes or vaults that will be used to store cannabis, cannabis products or currency;

16. Location of each toilet facility;

17. Location of a break room and personal storage lockers, if any;
